← The Imaginal Act, thirty days

Week 3 · Witness · Day 15 of 30

Primed and unprimed

Today's intent (planned)

Tell the signs you were looking for from the ones that came unasked, and record both, with the misses.

The practice

  1. Morning: write today's look-for in reality/log/<today>.md as a prediction, specific enough that a no is possible.
  2. During the day, notice anything that feels meaningful: a coincidence, a phrase, a meeting.
  3. For each, ask one question: had I set out today to notice something like this? Yes means primed. No means unprimed.
  4. Tonight, give each sign its own entry at the top of reality/witness.md, headed ### <today> <time> · sign · primed or · sign · unprimed (Studio: Witness).
  5. Mark the look-for in the log, even if the answer is no.

Why it works

Meaning

A meaningful coincidence can be honored as meaningful to you, and taken as a prompt to act. The tradition that named such moments described them as joined by meaning, not by cause. You can hold both: the moment matters to you, and the ledger stays honest.

Mechanism

Once you are looking for something, you notice it more often, and memory keeps hits while dropping misses. Labeling primed and unprimed signs, and counting the no's, corrects for both. Over weeks the tally shows something real: what your attention is tuned to. It cannot show that the world answered a thought, and it is not meant to.

Tonight (reported)

For each sign today, one entry (Studio: Witness). No sign today is a normal day: log another kind, or nothing, and still mark the look-for.

  • Happened (fact): What an outside observer could have seen. Nothing more.
  • Meant (my meaning): What it meant to you, in your words.
  • Did (action): What you already did with it, if anything.
  • Next (planned): What you intend to do.
  • Did it come? In the log: - Did it come: yes, no or not marked.
