← The Imaginal Act, thirty days

Week 2 · Bridge · Day 10 of 30

One bold move with a date

Today's intent (planned)

Name one act that takes some courage and moves your aim in a single step, and give it a date.

The practice

  1. Set today's look-for in reality/log/<today>.md.
  2. Ask: what single act, done once, would move this aim more than a week of reps? Send the draft. Book the room. Ask for the meeting. Apply.
  3. Check that it is yours to do. It depends on your act, not on someone else saying yes. The ask is yours; the answer is theirs.
  4. Pick a date within the next three weeks, and put it in your calendar now.
  5. Under ## Bridge in reality/aims/<slug>.md, add - Bold moves: and, under it, indented two spaces, - <date> — send the first ten pages (planned) (Studio: Bridges). When it is done, change (planned) to (done). Not before.

Why it works

Meaning

Courage is often quiet: an email, sent with a steady hand. A bold move can be your way of telling yourself the scene is worth a risk. If it frightens you a little, that may be part of what it means to you. You choose its size.

Mechanism

A dated, specific act is easier to start than an open intention. One move can change your situation in ways reps cannot: a new person, a new answer, new information. Courage from a peak moment fades; a date in the calendar stays. If the date passes, the pace check shows it as information about the plan, never as a verdict on you.

Tonight (reported)

Add an entry at the top of reality/witness.md with the truest kind: rep if you did today's rep, otherwise lesson. Head it ### <today> <time> · rep or · lesson, and end it with - Bridge: <slug> · Domain: <domain> (Studio: Witness).

  • Happened (fact): What happened with the aim today.
  • Meant (my meaning): What the bold move means to you.
  • Did (action): Only what is done. The move is still planned.
  • Next (planned): The move and its date.
  • Did it come? In the log: - Did it come: yes, no or not marked.
